Actress Sharon Stone said she will not shoot a movie in Mississippi, set to start filming June, citing the new religious freedom law.
“The Principal” is a short film about cyber-bullying and will now be shot in another location, WLOX reported.
In a statement released to Mississippi Film Studios President Rick Moore, Stone said,
“I will not work in any state that holds or is actively creating laws to legally support discrimination against American citizens whether due to their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation, nor where those laws are passed or approved by the government of said state.”
The production budget is $300,000.
Stone may be best known for her role in the motion picture “Basic Instinct.” She has been nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama in “Casino.”
