Tennis player Maria Sharapova spoke at Faneuil Hall Tuesday for the Forbes Under 30 Summit with Youtube star Bethany Mota and TV personality Raymond Braun. Sharapova talked about marketing techniques and how she started her new candy line, Sugarpova.
Inspired by her childhood memories of Russia, Sharapova said the brand was born out of her desire to create a souvenir product rather than the gummies people see in line at the supermarket. She said, when marketing a product, “I think it’s always important to represent who you really are.”
Sharapova also drew on lessons she learned from the tennis court like delegating work to a small circle of trusted experts.
